Jamnalal Bajaj Sewa Trust

Jamnalal Bajaj Sewa Trust

It all began in 1942. The Jamnalal Bajaj Sewa Trust was the first charitable trust to be formed at the initiative of Shri Kamalnayan Bajaj after the passing away of Jamnalalji. His entire share in the family wealth made up the initial corpus of the Trust. Gandhiji himself drafted the Memorandum and Articles of Association as well as the objectives of this Trust.

The initial thrust was towards assisting Sarvodaya workers and Gandhian constructive programmes. Later in 1960, on Acharya Vinoba Bhave's suggestion, the Trust scaled up its activities and established the International Sarvodaya Centre (ISC) - Vishwaneedam over 400 acres of land on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
